The Ropsten testnet merge has gone live, and the network is ecstatic

Jonathan Mann, a musician, sang “no more energy spike” and “ETH to the moon” to commemorate the merger.

The Blockchain network has taken a step toward the lengthy upgrade of converting to solid evidence (PoS) agreement, which would strengthen the system. In what has been labelled a “dress rehearsal” for the Ethereum platform, the Ropsten testnet successfully migrated to PoS.

The Ethereum system, like Bitcoin (BTC), is frequently chastised for its ecological consequences due to its usage of the solid evidence (PoW) mining method, which requires a great deal of electricity. The power problems should be addressed with the switch to PoS, and the system will become much more flexible, allowing it to execute more times per second.

As per the Ethereum Foundation, after Ropsten’s conversion, testnets Goerli and Sepolia will migrate to PoS before the mainnet switch. The public can keep Rinkeby and Kovan testnets, but they will no longer be overseen by client programmers.

People in the neighbourhood were overjoyed at the achievement. Jonathan Mann rocked out a Ropsten-merge-themed song, shouting lyrics like “not any more sudden power” and “ETH to the moon” to commemorate the merger.

The gathering was regarded as a “significant step” and a “revolutionary” occasion by Metav3rse creator Roberto Nickson. He considers this to be one of the greatest significant occurrences in cryptography ever, given the mainnet’s PoS inclusion is contingent on the testnet’s achievement.

The folks that collaborated on the merge were thanked by Parithosh Jayanthi, an Ethereum engineer. Because there are still some flaws, Jayanthi stated that solutions are on the road and that the crew would continue to evaluate the network in the following weeks.

The news of Ethereum’s plans to switch to PoS arrived just as New York began to crack down on PoW processing. The New York State Senate approved a bill last week to enact a mining prohibition for PoW devices.

Although some may anticipate the Ether (ETH) value to rise due to the merger, the revelation had little effect on the price of the virtual currency. Considering the testnet integration’s effectiveness, investors have lowered their ETH price forecasts to $1,400.
