As per OKHotshot’s analysis, the violence broke out by breaking into Boris Vagner’s Discord user, Yuga Labs’ public and social administrator.

Yuga Labs, the company behind two of the biggest ape-themed nonfungible token (NFT) products, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and OtherSide, has been hit by yet again another phishing assault, with buyers losing over 145 Ether (ETH), or approximately $260,000, at the time of posting.

Crypto traders were notified of the breach of two main Discord components associated with BAYC and OtherSide NFTs by OKHotshot, a blockchain investigator and part of the Crypto Twitter network.

As per OKHotshot’s research, the attacks were carried out by stealing into Boris Vagner’s Discord profile, Yuga Labs’ community and social administrator.

Hackers published multiple fraudulent URLs from Vagner’s Discord profile into the authorized BAYC, Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), and Otherside forums following getting easy accessibility to the employee’s profile.

Unaware of the continuing fraud, many individuals in the Discord forums fell for malicious links promising restricted freebies for current NFT owners.

OKHotshot concluded the research by revealing the accounts that stored and transmitted the newly stolen NFTs, marking the second time in 2 weeks that BAYC had been hacked.

During an extended fraud on May 25, a Proof Collective client stole 29 high-valued Ethereum-based Moonbirds NFTs for $1.5 million.

Whereas the extent of the harm caused by this attack is unknown, current crypto frauds serve as a stark reminder to NFT holders to be careful and cautious with third-party sites and to double-check everything given by others, even if they seem to be trusted.
