ORIGYN, enabled by ICP, is dealing with the problem of fraudulent smartwatches by combining bitcoin and fingerprinting technologies.

ORIGYN, a Swiss organization that employs machine learning (AI) to detect and verify valuable artifacts, has joined forces with the watch brand market WatchBox. The two companies will collaborate to create credentials of legitimacy in the shape of NFTs, which will enable consumers to swap the virtual possession of a clock.

These are essential NFTs that provide protection, virtual attribution, travel agency, and entry to special activities to consumers. Customers may aim their phones’ webcams at a wristwatch, examine it using the program, and check the product code. The energy NFTs from ORIGYN will be available to WatchBox customers in the summer of 2022.

Daniel Haudenschild, CEO of ORIGYN Organization, the for-profit part of the ORIGYN Organization, said that authenticating NFTs will enable private market transactions faster and more efficiently for both market participants. The secondary data source for expensive timepieces is anticipated to raise $32 billion by 2025.

By integrating bitcoin, distinctive global luxury fingerprinting expertise, and our utilities NFTs, we hope to verify high-end products and secure their ‘falsifiability’ tracking from sales to half price, allowing buyers to create premium transactions in absolute safety.”

Monitoring lineage is one of the earliest application reasons for bitcoin, according to Haudenschild, but employing authenticating NFTs allows a “direct line of communication to your client in a manner that marketers and suppliers have never seen before.” For instance, he has used Omega’s timepiece, claiming that if Omega had a database of customers of all its timepiece customers, including those who bought them on the resale market, it could provide them free admission to another James Bond film.

The Swiss watch sector spends $2 billion per year on knock-offs; as per ORIGYN, more than 40,000,000 purchasing counterfeit timepieces are created and marketed each year. And over 37% of top-end in France have unknowingly purchased fake goods.

According to Haudenschild, many other purchasers are wary of being misled and are tired of the resale market. He went on to say that this creates an unstable market while also eroding customer loyalty and brand recognition.

ORIGYN started collaborating with the UEFA Club for Families on an “NFTs for Purpose” campaign featuring historical antiques, which will debut on ORIGYN’s soon-to-be-launched NFT store, Extraordinary Stuff.
